EDUC-6714I-4 Reaching and Engaging All Learners Through Technology
• Summarize how you will use the resources in the Differentiation Station social network to help you implement the principles of Universal Design for Learning and Differentiated Instruction.
• Describe any immediate adjustments you will make to your instructional practice regarding the use of technology integration to customize instruction as a result of your learning from this course.
I learned three things from this course in regards to Universal design for Learning and Differentiated Instruction and that is to provide students with Choices, Choices and Choices. I know from personal experience the ownership, responsibility and sense of accomplishment which can come from completing a task you choose to do. I have also learned the language to describe what it is that I have intuitively know to be best practice for teaching but could never articulate it. Some of these words that now have a connection in my mind which I will be continually reflecting on when I create a lesson are, differentiate the content, process, product , affect and learning environment according to students readiness and interests.
This course and all the other ones previous have demonstrated the importance of trying out new technology, because as soon as I do, I have a difficult time trying to create a good lesson with out the skills I have learned. I can not imagine now trying to do a lesson with out technology, but prior to these courses I knew technology was good, but I did not know how to implement it. The resources shared in my learning network will be used to share with my peers at work, so they to have an opportunity to see technology in action. They know it is good too, but now they will have the tools and suggestions for implementation provided for them so they have a place to start. Once they try doing a lesson with technology there will be no going back for them.
